Book Love, Empty Mansions

This book is one of the most amazing true stories you will ever read, I promise!
It is all about the incredible life of Huguette Clark. Her father was the largest copper supplier in America during the 1920s and was responsible for founding Las Vegas. She grew up in the most privileged of ways, and her father built the largest privately owned home on 5th Avenue. Huguette was such a fascinating character who shared her wealth with those around her, she was eccentric and certainly lived on her terms. So much happens in this enthralling biography, and the excess is extraordinary. It was a fascinating mystery as to what happened towards the end of her life when she became a hermit, the money she left and to whom. I could not put this book down and just wished there were more photos. I did, however, come across this fantastic website that shows you into her mansions and view her collections. All of which I am utterly fascinated in.
For anyone who loves an autobiography – then this is a must! Have you had a chance to read this fantastic book? What did you think of it? Leave a comment below and let’s start the conversation! Chyka xx
Empty Mansions – The Mysterious Life Of Huguette was written by Clark- Bill Dedman and Paul Clark Newell. Next month I will be talking about The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, so if you are looking for a book to read and want to join in the conversation start reading!
